Project Latin Pt. 5/Undermining of the Church in the 20th Century pt. 1 MP3

By Br. Francis Maluf, M.I.C.M. and Br. Anthony Mary M.I.C.M. (tert.)

In this series of lectures Br. Francis continues the Latin lessons with sentences numbered 49 to 58. The major of these classes, however, is taken up with Br. Anthony Mary, M.I.C.M., Tert’s., continuing series on the history of the Church in the last two centuries. The talks were given from 1993-1994. The first portion was called “Revolution and the Papacy” and centered in the life of Blessed Pope Pius IX and the growth of liberalism and modernism in the 19th century. These lectures (the Assumption Session, 1993) begin with the life of Pope Leo XIII (1878 to 1903). It then proceeds to the reigns of St. Pius X, Benedict XV, Pius XI, and Pius XII. One of the sources used was a book by Mary Ball Martinez, The Undermining of the Catholic Church, which had just been published at the time of the course. The Easter 1994 session covers the reigns of the last four popes of our time, Popes John XXIII, Paul VI, and John Paul I, and II.
