The study of knowledge itself. How does man know and what is it that is known? Most modern errors are initially epistemological. Sometimes called "major logic" or the "theory of knowledge", epistemology is much needed in our age because, in general, most modern philosophies such as: skepticism, uncritical dogmatism, positivism, scientism, materialism, phenomenalism, etc labor within an atmosphere of epistemological error. Epistemology is to metaphysics what apologetics is to theology: it gives the mind confidence in it's competency to know the immaterial or spiritual realities, as well as a knowledge of the limits of that competency.
