Theme: Looking Toward a Catholic America
Title: Mission America: Some Thoughts on the Conversion of America
By Br. André Marie, M.I.C.M.
Is it even possible? The way things are going shouldn’t we just focus on our own families, build fences, and protect our loved ones as best we can from the deluge of immorality and apostasy all around us? No! Not if you understand your membership in the Mystical Body of Christ in the Catholic sense. We are all called, individually and as a body, to give witness to our Faith and to work for the conversion of sinners. That may be by approaching one person at a time, a victory of grace here, a victory there. But that is how “crusades" are won. The Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary are dedicated to the conversion of the United States of America to Catholicism. Br. André Marie, M.I.C.M. had that goal at heart when he addressed the audience at the 2001 annual St. Benedict Center Conference. He reminded us all that we must do our part to evangelize our country. It is part of our job as Catholics to spread the message of salvation to everyone. In this talk Br. André gives a brief history of evangelization throughout the world, and then describes the many ways we can help to convert America. “With God all things are possible,” Jesus assured us in the gospel. Let’s act as if we believe it.
