After having himself been recently immersed in and captured by the beauty of that school of Franciscan theology which places Our Lord Jesus Christ at the heart of God’s purpose for all of creation, Brother André Marie, M.I.C.M., Prior of the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, sets out to share with his audience his own knowledge and passion for the subject. This he does not in a purely abstract, theological way, but rather by drawing a series of concrete implications that this tradition has on Saint Benedict Center’s Crusade to promote the Faith and convert America. These implications include the vanquishing of the historicism that is an integral part of the Modernist heresy; the affirmation that God’s plan from eternity was to save all men by incorporating them into Christ’s Mystical Body, the Church; the reality that Our Lord’s role as King flows from His essential priority in the mind of God; and the beautiful insight that the traditional Liturgy is the extension in time of the mission of the Incarnate Logos to be the Supreme Glorifier of the Triune God. Far from being a mere hat-tip to Franciscan spirituality, this talk is a fascinating glimpse into an ancient school of thought that has very real bearings on our work for souls today.
