Title: Tradition & Faith in Nigeria Today
By Fr. Evaristus Eshiowu, F.S.S.P.
This talk by Father Evaristus, a Nigerian priest, recounts his personal journey to discovering and championing the Traditional Latin Mass in his home country. He describes a thriving Catholic faith in Nigeria, with numerous vocations, yet also facing a rising tide of liturgical abuses imported from the West and the influence of the charismatic renewal movement. Father Evaristus details his own shock at the state of the liturgy in America, which led him to seek out the Traditional Mass. Upon returning to Nigeria, he found a spiritual battle underway between modernizing forces and a groundswell of Marian devotion. The talk concludes with his ongoing efforts, supported by his bishop, to establish a permanent home for the Traditional Latin Mass in Nigeria as a bastion of orthodoxy.
